Handsome Monica is an associate in SBSB’s New Orleans office. After spending the first three years of his professional practice handling workers’ compensation defense claims, commercial litigation and general liability disputes, he arrived at the firm in July 2025 to handle cases arising under the Defense Base Act.
A native of Mandeville, Louisiana, Handsome earned an Associate of Arts degree from Northwest Florida State University in 2016 before earning his Bachelor of Arts from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette in 2019, majoring in Political Science and minoring in Sociology. Despite a five-year collegiate baseball career that included a draft selection by the Atlanta Braves in 2016, the law proved to be the strongest draw, as he would go on to graduate from Loyola University New Orleans College of Law in 2022 with his Juris Doctorate.
Handsome is admitted to the Louisiana State Bar Association. His time in law school saw him earn accolades for Bar Prep and Maritime Personal Injury while spending time in the Trial Advocacy Program and the Latinx Student Law Association, highlighting a versatility and dedication to the way he approaches his work.
