Carmen Barba

Associate / Houston

Carmen Barba sees herself as a guide through sometimes troubling times for her clients. Determining how best to use the law in their favor and working with the client to find a solution that not only applies the law but is also mindful of their business interests — that’s what motivates her every day. And it makes her a valuable asset to SBSB clients.

She obviously can’t change the law to win, but working with her clients to find how the law best works for their business and coming up with a compromise or an agreement is why she’s the ethical bulwark her clients look to for guidance.

At the Thurgood Marshall School of Law, where Carmen earned her J.D., her high ethical standards and studious nature resulted in a spot on the Dean’s List, an honor she also achieved in her undergraduate studies at Florida International University.

She was born in Colombia but has lived in the U.S. most of her life. With many family members still in her home country, she maintains fluency in Spanish and a connection to that culture. This inherent understanding of dual cultures contributes to her understanding and inclusive nature when working with clients.
