As a self-confessed “people person,” Melissa Anderson relishes the opportunity to work with people. With her colleagues, that means working cohesively as a team to achieve their clients’ legal needs. With her clients, it translates into learning about them and having insight into their perspective and their goals.
Melissa understands that there’s more to the legal profession than litigate, litigate, litigate. A contractual dispute is often between her client and someone they will have to do business with again in the future, and it’s important to continue the relationship between the two parties. In those cases, she will make herself an astute student of that business dynamic in order to maintain balance when the case is over.
On the other hand, she is a meticulous and tenacious seeker of justice, known for finding creative approaches to prove her client’s case. That may involve a deep dive into a litigant’s social media postings, or perhaps more traditional means, but she will get what she needs to prove her client’s case and achieve justice.
Melissa earned her J.D. from Pepperdine University School of Law, where she also obtained a certification in Dispute Resolution from Pepperdine’s #1-ranked Strauss Institute for Dispute Resolution.
While at Pepperdine, Melissa worked for the Los Angeles City Attorney’s office in the Employment Litigation Division, where she defended the city in numerous labor and employment lawsuits under California’s Fair Employment and Housing Act. This experience has proven indispensable in providing more value to SBSB’s employment law clients.
